Here are our tips to help you plan the perfect Senior Session

Planning your senior portrait session might seem overwhelming. Here is a list of our Senior session planning tips! You know these photos will be seen for years to come and will leave a lasting impression on your friends and family. It’s the end of a chapter of your life and the beginning of something new!

Here’s a quick, simple, and practical guide to five ways you can make your senior portraits stand out.

1) Outfit

One of the most important ways to make your session stand out is the right wardrobe. This is the best way to express yourself! Your style can be uniquely you. One, two or three outfits make for variety in your session too.  Plus, accessories add the final touches! Add a scarf, a hat, special jewelry, or even a pair of sweet sunglasses.

2) PROPS

Whatever you’re involved in during your time in high school you will probably want to try and incorporate somehow. If you’re in sports or other extra curriculars, using those pieces as props is awesome! Add in some running shoes, a musical instrument, or a jersey. If sports or music wasn’t your thing, bring special items from home; coffee mugs, suitcases, books, and more! Flowers, bikes, and sentimental items are great too.

3) HAIR AND MAKEUP

Guys, come to your shoot with a fresh haircut and a clean shave (unless you are rocking a beard!). Ladies, there’s nothing wrong with enhancing your beauty with hair and makeup and don’t let anyone make you feel uncomfortable about using makeup. That being said, it’s super important to choose a makeup and hair look that makes you feel confident, not uncomfortable. Find looks that inspire you and come prepared to slay in front of the camera. We have several local hair and makeup artists we can recommend.

4) LOCATIONS

We have some of the most amazing locations to choose from here in Savannah. Let us know your style and a little bit about yourself and we are happy to recommend locations for you.

5) TIME OF DAY

Finally, shooting at the best time of day is essential. As a photographer, we want to deliver the most beautiful images, not images that are too dark or shot in harsh light. The best time of day is called the Golden Hour and that’s about 2 hours before sunset. You will have a perfect golden light around you and it will warm everything in the lens. Another option is just after sunrise, not many people want this option but it is beautiful and it’s much cooler in the summer months. Keep this in mind when booking with us and taking into account that the best light only happens twice a day!

We hope our Senior Session Planning Tips have given you some ideas for your personal session!
